Ahmed Hussain Adam

Ahmed Hussain Adam has been the official spokesman of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), one of the main political and military groups in Sudan's Darfur region, since 2003.

He belongs to the political arm of the organisation and has represented them in negotiations at talks in Chad, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Qatar.  Mr. Adam was one of the main JEM negotiators at Doha's February meeting, where a goodwill and confidence-building agreement to resolve the Darfur conflict was signed with the government.

Mr. Adam is based in London and is currently pursuing his PhD in Law at the London School of Economics.

 

Roland Marchal

Roland Marchal

Roland Marchal is a senior research fellow at the National Centre for Scientific Research based at the International Studies and Researches in Paris. He specialises in conflicts and politics in Africa and has written extensively on Darfur.

From 2002-2006 he was chief editor of the French academic quarterly, Politique Africaine.

He earned his degrees from the Ecole des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and University Paris VI.

 

Hani Shukrallah

Hani Shukrallah

Hani Shukrallah is co-Chief Editor and a columnist for the Egyptian daily newspaper Al-Shorouk, which launched in February 2009.

He is also the Executive Director of the Cairo-based Heikal Foundation for Arab Journalism and was Chief Editor of the English language Al-Ahram Weekly from 1991 to 2005.

He is a founding member of the Egyptian Organisation for Human Rights, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Network for Human Rights Information, and a board member of the Center for Arab and African Studies in Cairo.

 

Ghazi Salahuddin Atabani

Ghazi Salahuddin Atabani

Dr. Ghazi Atabani is an adviser to President Al-Bashir and a member of both Parliament and Leadership Council of the National Congress.

From 2001-2003 he was Advisor to the President on Peace Affairs and led peace negotiations with Sudan People's Liberation Movement Army which led to the signing of the Machakos Protocol and Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.

He has also been Minister of Communication, Minister of State at the Presidential Palace, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Adviser to the President on Political Affairs.
