From Doha to Delhi

The Doha Debates student trip to the Indian capital

Debaters in India

Ten students travelled from Doha to Delhi to participate in the debate. While all living and studying in Qatar, the students were a variety of nationalities – Egyptian, Indian, Iraqi, Qatari, Emirati, Sudanese and Eritrean to name a few.

As keen debaters it was only fitting that they should put their skills to the test and alongside students from St. Stephen’s College, they debated the controversial motion ‘This House believes terrorism is a justified means of resistance’.

The Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb and India Gate were just some of the sights the students visited. In between debates, receptions and roundtable discussions they also had a taste of Bollywood with a lesson in Indian dancing where they were shown how to move like the country’s top cinema stars.
